What is Pickleball?

Pickleball, or pickleball for short, is a sport played by hitting a ball with a racket. It originated in the United States in the 1960s, initially created to keep children entertained at family gatherings. It consists of a racket and a perforated plastic tennis ball, easily played on a badminton doubles court. This initial purpose allowed pickleball to overcome some of the limitations of other ball sports, becoming a low-barrier, low-restriction sport for everyone.
The gameplay of pickleball is similar to table tennis, badminton, and tennis. Pickleball is somewhat of a hybrid, a sport played with a table tennis racket on a badminton court. However, compared to traditional tennis balls, pickleball is lighter and smaller.
Both the ball and the racket are lighter. A pickle racket can be seen as a larger table tennis racket, typically made of mixed materials or carbon fiber, weighing about the same as half a bottle of water, making it relatively easy to swing and hit.
The peakeer ball is about 74mm in diameter, similar in size to a tennis ball. It's mostly made of hard plastic and is hollow, weighing only about 200 grams.
The court is smaller, the same size as a badminton court, 6.1 meters x 13 meters, less than half the size of a tennis court. Matches are mostly played to 11 points, with a fast pace, often lasting less than 10 minutes per rally.
02 How to play peakeer?
Peakeer stretches the body more than table tennis or badminton, and the smaller court means less running, especially in doubles matches where you can focus on your own area. Although the intensity is reduced, the skill involved in peakeer is no less. Because it uses a small plastic ball, the "slice" and "spin" techniques used on a table tennis table are perfectly replicated on a peakeer.
In addition, peakeer is easier to learn than traditional racket sports and is more accessible to the average person. Many beginners to badminton and tennis say, "It feels like I'm running, constantly running around picking up the ball," and "I get looked down upon by skilled players, and less skilled players look down on each other." Pickball, however, offers a truly "suitable for all ages and levels," bridging the gap in physical abilities between groups. You can use table tennis techniques to feed the ball, execute a badminton smash, or utilize the muscle memory of a long tennis swing to return the shot.
Furthermore, pickball, which can be played anywhere—just a public badminton court or even an open space with a rope—is an excellent choice for fitness for the average person. In contrast, other sports either require more money, need a group of players, or demand a certain level of physical fitness, all having some degree of "barrier to entry."
In short, if you want to regain your form in a relaxed way, pickball, a moderately strenuous sport that requires little space and offers social interaction, is an excellent choice for exercise and leisure.
